DING! DING! ROUND TWO
Thankfully, the Sox won yesterday because this weekend is going to be tougher than last. The entire MFY lineup should be healthy and they are only going against one of our big three.
Game 1 - Dice-K vs Pettitte
The MFY may have a better notion of what to expect from Dice-K, but who knows. Pettitte is a known quantity.
Game 2 - Wakefield vs Karstens
Wake has had great success versus the MFY. Hopefully, the knuckler keeps moving on Saturday. Karstens was discussed last week and in case you missed it, he isn't very good.
Game 3 - Tavarez vs Wang
Even though we have had a debate on the usefulness of pitcher-hitter stats, Wang has gotten crushed my Hinske in 22 at-bats going 591/609/1182. Lugo has a better OBP, but a lower AVG and SLG percentage verus Wang. Ortiz also hits the hard throwing, but non-strikeout righty going 476/560/714.
Tavarez is crazy and this maybe his last chance to pitch every fifth day. BTW, Abreu owns him hitting 375/516/875. Sunday could a four hour plus game.
