IN-HOUSE PLAN Bs

Perhaps the Sox do not need a real #2 starter, if one out of the other four or six - Bartolo Colon and Curt Schilling - steps up once every five days. Given the likely high cost for a Kevin Millwood or Joe Blanton, it is not worth it for the Sox to make a big trade.

The other weakness at this point is middle relief – Mike Timlin, Manny Delcaremen, and Javier Lopez - have been up and down at best. Fortunately, the Sox have other options within the organization – Craig Hansen, Justin Masterson, Jon Switzer.

When the Sox’s only need to go outside of the organization could be to find a right-handed power bat to come off the bench, these are the best of times to be a Sox fan. And relatively uninteresting for bloggers like El Guapo’s Ghost.
