TWO OBSERVATIONS ON TWO GAMES
Jason Bay is on. Lackey missed location on a fastball that Bay crushed and he tagged a slider that Santana left up. But both pitches were not meatballs. Bay has shown me much better plate coverage and power than I saw in the last two months.
On the other hand, K-Rod’s (I probably should stop calling him that) threw a Josh Beckett like 88 mph changeup that J.D. Drew took yard. Unfortunately for him and LAA, Slow-Rod doesn’t bring the heat anymore. Earlier in the same Drew at-bat, S-Rod’s fastball topped out at 89 mph and in the inning he could not get higher than 93 mph. As we know with Keith Foulke that is not enough separation. S-Rod should stop throwing the change unless he gets his plus fastball back.
