LONG WEEKEND REVIEW

Mike Bowden showed me a better change than most have reported. He got plenty of swings-and-misses. The delivery - a slight pause - and the change reminded me of Keith Foulke. I’ve written too much on Bowden since he was drafted, which tells me that not only is he an interesting prospect but also that I have been doing this for sometime plus two years.

As far as other developments in RSN, which essentially amounts to the number of injuries, things have been progressing nicely for even J.D. Drew according to Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus.

“The concurrent back issues—muscular and disc-related—are complicating things slightly, but the Red Sox staff is getting this under control.”

I guess the Sox know WTF is going on, but can they resolve the issue and soon is the bigger question.

As I steal a headline from Barstoolsports, “McCain Is Going To Try To MILF His Way To the White House.” Seriously, the choice of Sarah Palin and Obama’s first half red meat speech in Denver made me realize that I under estimated the PUMAs. They are pissed and are out for blood like Nader’s crew in 2000.

With that being said, Palin is a good choice for Johnny Mac. She solidifies McCain’s base and could add crazy PUMAs too. Of course, it also brings back the “Top Gun” Maverick thing. But now, Palin’s daughter being knocked up makes me question the McCain camp. At least a third of the political brilliance of picking Palin was she would bring out the base - the conservative right - that has to be in question in critical states like Ohio, Colorado, Virginia, and Florida. If McCain knew of this issue, as they professed, and still picked Palin, it should be a question of McCain’s judgment. Romney certainly would have increased the Mormon and LDS turnout in critical states like Colorado and New Mexico. Politics is all about winning.
