SCARY SH^T SO COWBOY UP
Both the Sox and Rays went 4-2 this week. The Rays manned up as they faced LAA and the Other Sox. The Local Nine didn’t play particularly well, but they still managed to win each series. This will need to continue as the Olde Towne Team are dealing with multiple injuries.
Josh Beckett is a huge loss. “Inflammation in his elbow” is freaking scary. Regardless of his issues this season, he is the man. An unhealthy Beckett clearly decreases the Sox ability to play baseball near Halloween, if they make it. (BTW, how great is it that Halloween falls on a Friday?! It is going to be out of control.)
Even though J.D. Drew seems to take a day off due to a hang nail, any back injury has a chance to flare up again. The same goes for Mike Lowell and his oblique injury. Hence, the Sox should acquire the waiver cleared Kevin Millar as insurance. He can play first versus southpaws. Alex Cora should not play during the stretch run and certainly against lefties. Millar can play right, albeit frightening and humorous at the same time. Even if Drew and Lowell comeback and are productive, Millar is a nice stick to have coming off the bench for Lowrie, Coco or Ellsbury. Plus, the guy is hilarious and should not cost the Sox a lot. Get it done, Theo!
