DO WE GET MRS. KOTSAY TOO?
Mark Kotsay is interchangeable with Coco and Ellsbury. Maybe Coco’s southpaw swing looks as bad as his numbers, so Kotsay was brought in to work the larger half of a platoon in center. Perhaps, Theo is just increasing the odds that someone is going to get hot. But all in, the trade doesn’t make the Sox much better than with Coco and Ellsbury.
The Olde Towne Team attained supplemental insurance in exchange for a twenty year old $200,000 bonus outfield prospect hitting the crap out of the ball at Lowell. Luis Sumoza seems to be a heavy price to pay for Kotsay on August 27th. It leads me to believe, as well as the fact that Drew is a notoriously a slow healer; he is not coming off the DL on September 2nd or anytime soon. This is a problem as none of the aforementioned trio has the on-base skill or is the same power threat as the hurtin’ right fielder. With Sean Casey hurting himself last night, I’ll say it again – it is time to Cowboy Up!
