WHO DO YOU WANT?

The Indians and MFY are essentially the same type of club. Both have power-patient lineups from top to bottom with the MFY having the edge. Each has two top starters with a big drop off after that. Cleveland has the better rotation but the MFY’s pen is tougher. Neither club catches the ball well. The MFY have the better infield and Cleveland in the outfield.

I think the Indians are a slightly better match up for the Sox for the following three reasons:

1) Jacobs Field does not play to the Indians strength as much as MFY Stadium does for the MFY. The short porch in right field makes Johnny Damon, Robinson Cano, and Bobby Abreu home run threats giving the MFY more possibilities to go deep than Cleveland. In the playoffs, home runs/power is the most important offensive skill.

2) Dice-K has faired better against the Indians than versus the MFY. They are also the better match up since the Indians have less power and patience.

3) Mario Rivera. He is much better than Joe B.

BTW, a lot has been written about how focused Manny is and his play has showed it (taking the extra base twice in three games). I think he has been pulling a Shaq back in 2006.
