THE SOX APRIL SCHEDULE SUCKS
The Sox play SEVEN day games during the week in April. Even though I do not consider myself a traditionalist regarding nearly everything, I’m fine with home openers being day games. Unfortunately, the Olde Towne Team is a participant of an additional one in Texass on Friday and add in the Marathon Monday game brings on four sick/leave early or late days in three weeks. It is doable for many with Patriots Day and the kids school vacation week somewhere in that time period. But WTF is with a day game this Thursday - Dice-K's first start no less and a 12:37 start in Toronto on Thursday the 19th. (The April 12th game is acceptable, albeit poor planning, since the Mariners need to fly back to Seattle for a home game.) There is no good reason for those start times.
This part of the schedule bitching probably applies to a smaller number of fellow Sox fans - the local nine should not be playing this Sunday night on ESPN against the season opener of the Sopranos. Of course, I can DVR Sopranos on Monday as the Olde Towne Team has an off day, but I would need to avoid all media. I think something big like Bobby or Christopher swimming with the fishes goes down. But like the above to Thursday day games, there is no need for the Sox to play Sunday night. The Dodger-Giants game will attract a bigger market and move viewers. Families would watch the game together after a nice Easter dinner. My alternative is watching the Sopranos opener after the Sox game and going to sleep around one. Make that 1:30 - Entourage is on as well. My productive will suck even more on next Monday.
