A TRADE RUMOR…FLOATING AROUND IN MY HEAD
Buster Olney says that if Alex Rodriquez opts out of his contract the MFY will not sign him at the going rate of “…at least $20 million annually (assuming he doesn't have a disastrous '07), for seven or eight years.” If A-Hole becomes a distraction, like Nomar was back in 2004, don’t be surprised if he gets moved to the Cubs or Astros in a three-way that brings a cheaper third baseman – Mark Teahan or Joe Crede - to the MFY. Both N.L. Central teams have automatic outs at short, are in full win now mode and A-Hole is a short-term commitment with the potential to pay for himself. The former shortstop would be a huge upgrade for either club. The Cubs or Astros could trade prospects to the Royals or White Sox. Each A.L. Central team wants to open up the hot corner for their third base prospect – Alex Gordon and Josh Fields.
