THE THIRD PARTY - TODD HELTON - HAS HIS SAY
Todd Helton has told the Rockies he is prepared to veto all future trades for the next five years. O'Dowd said he was "never overly optimistic that the Red Sox deal was going to get done" because neither side could find a match on a young prospect.
Helton could be pushing his way to Boston. This deal may not be dead.
It is in the best interest of Denver baseball to trade Helton. Even if the Rockies accept the Sox offer of Lowell and Tavarez, I'm not sure it is prudent for the Olde Towne Team. It is a tough call. But now the Sox have even more leverage.
