RED SOX PITCHING COACH, JOHN FARRELL SOUNDS GOOD ON NESN
John Farrell, the Red Sox new Pitching Coach (I still don‘t understand the Sox not renewing Dave Wallace‘s contact) was on Red Sox Hot Stove tonight on NESN. He spoke to fellow SMC alum, Tom Carron. Farrell is optimist on J.C. Romero. He said, “There are some things we can…make some adjustments to get him back on track to provide us some quality left handed relief innings.” Farrell made a point of mentioning Romero, and not a peep about Pineiro. Hopefully, he is right, and Romero takes and carries out the instruction.
The Pitching Coach on Papelbon‘s shoulder, “Every indication shows that he is going to need…those extra days rest. Where it seemed to flare up was on back-to-back or three days in a row type of usage.” It does not seem as if Papelbon is heading back to the bullpen, unless Roger Clemens walks through that door. Then he could be used as an old school relief ace - pitching two plus innings in the tightest and most critical times of the game - but after a relief outing, Paps would have at least two days off.
