TRADE RUMOR UPDATE - JULIO LUGO TO SECOND AT FENWAY
Will Carroll today...
The Red Sox didn't make the deal I was told about yesterday. Was my source wrong or did things change, keeping the expected deal from happening? I'm not sure yet.
The Sox are also closing in on a deal for Julio Lugo, according to sources with other teams. The holdup there is getting an answer on whether Lugo would move to second base. The backup option for the Red Sox is Dustin Pedroia...
Tejada doesn't want to move to the hot corner.
Speaking about the transition from shortstop to third, Angels Manager Mike Scioscia told the Los Angeles Times that Tejada "is very athletic … but the first thing is, a player's heart has to be in it."
So it appears that LAA is out of sweepstakes. As for Texass, even if Young moves to third, the O's shouldn't want Blalock after signing Mora. The Dodgers have committed to Furcal at shortstop. It looks like the Tigers, who can move Guillen to third, the Astros and Sox are left.
