FIRST RED SOX TRADE TO HAPPEN SHORTLY
Will Carroll is reporting that...
One of my best sources says the first of the Red Sox deals will happen this afternoon.
If Carroll's source is right, then an announcement is likely to happen about an hour after the game this afternoon. I bet it is for a first baseman - Craig Wilson, Ryan Shealy, Sean Casey, Todd Walker. It could be the start of other deals because it gives the Sox depth at the hot corner (Youk and Lowell), in the outfield (Nixon, Pena, Coco, Murphy) and at second (Dustin and Loretta). If it is only the one trade, it gives the Sox the backup first baseman/pinch hitter that the club could use.

Tejada is more likely to move if the O's are willing to absorb a bit of salary in return for him.
I think the Sox would take on all of Tejada's salary without blinking (may be a pause on the $8M still owed on his signing bonus due in 2010 and 2011). If this is the case, the Sox should not have give up as others.
