THEO’S TRICK WITHOUT ANY TREATS

Before October 2004 in New England around the age of fifteen, we realize that we won’t be jogging out from the Fenway dugout to John Fogerty’s “Centerfield,” so we begin to dream about managing the Olde Towne Team to a World Series win. Theo lived out our adult dream and now it is over. It is a sad day for Boston Baseball.

The highly productive Red Sox management team has parted ways. As I alluded to earlier, it is going to be difficult to find another bold General Manager like Theo. At the very least, he/she needs to be confident enough to not only think, but act “outside of the box.” No matter what level of involvement from the Executive and Ownership levels, the General Manger is the public face on baseball matters and is accountable to Red Sox Nation.

It is a sad day, and unfortunately, things could get worse. The public and fan relations fanatics on Yawkey Way will likely exert more influence than anyone right now. With that in mind, the Red Sox PR play book calls for them to change the story quickly. No one is or will buy into the Theo “smear” campaign. Hence, the Sox need to change the media’s agenda. Prepare yourself for Johnny Damon to ink a 4-5 year contract in the range of $50-60 million. The Sox were successfully with this tactic last season by signing Renteria immediately following the loss of Pedro. If a strong, bold, and confident GM is not hired by Thanksgiving, we will see even more PR driven foolish contracts that could set back the franchise for the many years.

Hi there, I was writing in hope that you could do whatever you can to publicize a website we are launching tomorrow, http://www.ThankYouTheo.com. Red Sox nation will be able to personally thank Theo for his work and bringing the Championship to Boston. Whatever you can do would be most appreciated! Thank You! JB
