"O CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN!"...IS IT MILLER TIME?
It is well known to readers that I feel the Sox overpaid for Tek based on the facts. But if Theo and the Trio were going to spend an extra $14 million or so on a player, they probably made the right choice. The Sox have watched Tek work for a number of years now and thus, are the best to evaluate his intangible assets. If a club is going to overpay for a player, it should be on one of their own.
A “well done” goes out to Theo and company for the signing of Wade Miller. They had critical information, Miller’s medical reports, before other clubs and took advantage of that data by quickly signing Miller to a low cost - high reward contract. In this case, the early bird got the worm, but for the love of god, don’t eat the worm. Nothing good ever comes from eating the worm.
