REMEMBER WHEN…

Sports Illustrated wrote before a decisive playoff game:

"He's better, but we can't hurt the kid," Boston manager… said… "We'll see how he is tomorrow from the standpoint of his health. We just don't think it's wise to start him."

…And the next day…

Making a surprise relief appearance…pitched six hitless innings and struck out eight.

"I wouldn't come out,"..."As long as I was able to throw the ball over the plate, I was going to stay in there."


It could happen again with Schilling, but the rest of the team has give him the opportunity. It starts tonight.
