MIGUEL CABRERA PUSHES TWINS TO DEAL JOHAN SANTANA
The one positive that can be taken away from Miguel Cabrera being traded to Detroit is any thought that Bill Smith had about competing for a playoff spot should be dead now. Holding onto Johan Santana and going for it was Smith’s only other option after the MFY have reportedly dropped out of the running. As long as the Sox prospects being offered are of the same talent level as a first and sandwich round draft pick and better than the MFY offer, Smith should make the deal. In general with the talent level being equal, prospects are more valuable than draft picks because they are less risky being closer to the Show and their signing bonus has already been paid.
